Evan Bayh will not seek reelection | IndyStar.com | The Indianapolis Star
This is big news, but I like his reason. It is an admission that we have a problem.
“Just last week, a major piece of legislation to create jobs — the public’s top priority — fell apart amid complaints from both the left and right."
Unfortunately the media has chosen to preface this as a matter of partisanship. I see the statement above and recognize his complaint to be about ideology not partisanship. He did not say that Republicans or democrats were responsible he said, "from both the left and the right."
There is an important difference of which the media is ignorant. Here a statesman points out a serious political problem and the media glosses over it as politics-as-usual partisanship. Make no mistake, political parties have existed for decades in the US, they are not the problem. It is rampant, extremist ideologues that are the problem.
