Halloween

The girls did manage to find time to put on their costumes and try to get some candy. It was pretty late after Abbie's last performance but we visited some friends and then walked to a few houses. It was pretty chilly but thankfully not rainy. The girls were particularly scared of the last house and even refused to get out and knock on the well decorated home.

Adrienne and Dad Out on the Town

Adrienne and I took a break from the long day and enjoyed a movie. Astro Boy was the film of the day and we had a good time. I did misplace my cell phone but I recovered it and we went on to dinner. We dined at one of my favorite restaurants, Jazz. The food was good but we did not have enough time to try desert because we were on to Trick or Treat.

Poe's Prose

Abbie performed in her first school play. It was called Poe's Prose though it was just about as much about his poetry. Abbie had two roles in the performance. She had a reoccurring role as a lead in to each of the shorts and also as a dancer in a short story.

Meet Memphis

This is the newest member of the Smith Family. Memphis, is eight weeks old and our puppy. The girls adore him although Adrienne still forgets his name. He is a bit pudgy but I will run that out of him. He loves to chew on things and pounce on his squeaky rabbit. Expect more updates about Memphis.

5K Run

This was a first for Abbriel and I. We ran in our first 5K run. It was cold that morning and the race took a bit longer for both of us than what we thought but given the conditions I thought we did pretty well. My time was 26:33 and Abbriel's time was 44:28. Just the beginning of a long weekend.

TKD

The girls put on the new uniforms they received at Taekwondo (TKD). They look sharp don't they. We still have to put the patches on the outfits. They had a great time at their first lesson and I did too. I think this will be a great experience for all of us.

Twitter

The Smith Family is now on Twitter. You can follow our days in our brief updates on this fun site. Don't expect pictures or lengthy updates. These are just a few words to describe what is going down in the now. I think it will be great for events especially the upcoming weeks which are going to be full of much excitement and change for the Smith Family.

Scaredy Cats

The girls were so scared after watching the one of the latest episodes of Fringe that they could not sleep in their own beds. It may seem cute to you all but I had to sleep with those bed hogs and it was not pretty. I survived but I made sure they slept in their own beds the next night.

The Award

Okay maybe I'm just a little proud of my daughter's achievement, but just think of this as giving my loyal blog readers the most crisp and clear image of Abbie's award. I expect that this is just the beginning of Abbie's awards.

My Little Girl Part 2

Abbie's award ceremony was this morning and she was one of the first recipients of the morning. She was recognized for Outstanding Achievement in Drama. Drama is one of the "electives" that sixth graders at Smithton take. I don't think it is really an elective because I think all of the students take it eventually. It is taken on a quarterly basis and Abbie was one of two recognized this quarter. Congrats Abbie!!!

My Little Girl Part 1

Adrienne had a Girl Scout Halloween party and she wanted to go dressed up as a soldier. She put on the uniform I bought her at basic training and requested to use some of my equipment. While not all of this uniform is G.I. she sure does have the spirit.

Abbie's Award Ceremony

This is the award notice that Abbie was given at school. We have no idea what she is being awarded or the reason for the award. I guess we will find out soon. It is Tuesday morning at Smithton Middle School. I will post an update as soon as I find out more.

Welcome Home

I have finally made it home from training. My time away in the Army was great. You'll have to ask me about it sometime. My girls were so happy to see me home. I surprised them as I did not tell them when I was coming home. I just picked them up from school within minutes of my plane landing.

Being home has been great. I have a new place and I am starting to make it home. It is in a great neighborhood and I am so happy. I have so many things I want to do in this new place. You all should come down for a visit sometime.
